On my last trip to WDW I had my 9 month old with me. After running out of formula, I asked around and none of the cast members knew where I could get any within WDW. After taking a $30.00 cab ride to the nearest grocery store, I found out that WDW does stock the popular brands of formula, among other baby necessities, at a small baby store by the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom.
Some people don't realize that many of the table service restaurants in the parks seat until park closing. We have found it's nice to have a late lunch, and then after watching Spectromagic at the Magic Kingdom, go to the Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. We've always been able to get seated as soon as we go in, even without reservations. When we've finished our wonderful meal with the characters, the park is practically empty and we can take our time walking down Main Street and not fighting a crowd. It really makes a nice, stress-free ending to an enjoyable day.
Though you can't just go to the top floor of the Contemporary to watch the fireworks, you can go to the third floor lookout (or the stairwells of the 4th-14th floors). Also, remember that the monorails stop when there are perimeter fireworks.
If you arrive at the WDW parks (Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom) prior to opening an assortment of the Disney Characters come out and put on a little show to officially open the park. Once the welcome is over and the park is open the characters are available to sign autographs in a designated area. In Epcot it was in the plaza by Mission Mars, in Animal Kingdom around the Tree of Life and in Magic Kingdom on the circle on Mainstreet. It was a great way to start the day for the kids. This does not happen at Disney Studios.
You can rent a locker for $3.00 per day and $2.00 refundable Key Deposit and then save your receipt. This will allow you unlimited use of the locker for the day and allow you to move your locker to another park for free if you wish. Also works great for cooler weather when you do not want to carry a jacket or your lunch or snack.
In regards to having bags and whatnots inspected at the parks, the best thing is to have all pockets and pouches opened. Also, if you have a dayplanner or something similar, have that unzipped, too. When we went to Disneyland recently (to see the new Haunted Mansion Holiday), my husband was asked to open his dayplanner for them to inspect. When we park-hopped over to DCA, he was ready for the inspection process and dutifully had everything unzipped and ready to be looked at.
